The Apple Harvest Rule: Why Your Fall Marketing Starts Now
Don't wait until the apples are falling to figure out what you're going to do with them - plan ahead, gather, get ready.
Here's the thing about fall - it doesn't ease you in. One day it's summer and the next your calendar is full, the kids are back in school, the events are stacking up, and somehow Halloween decorations are already going up.
And if you haven't thought about your end of year marketing plan yet? You're falling behind.
I know that sounds harsh. But I also know it's true - because I see it every year. Businesses that planned ahead are the ones that show up consistently, confidently, and memorably during the busiest season of the year. And the ones that didn't? They're scrambling in November wondering why their last-minute promotion isn't landing.
So today, instead of our usual three sections, I want to give you something more useful - a handful of real, practical ways to stay consistent in your marketing even when life is coming at you from every angle.
Think of it like the apple trees in my backyard. You don't wait until the apples are falling off the branches to figure out what you're going to do with them. You plan ahead. You gather. You get ready. Your marketing works the same way.
Here's how to stay consistent this fall:
🍎 Batch your content. Set aside 1-2 hours once or twice a month and create 4-8 pieces of content to schedule out over the next few weeks. That's one to two posts per week without having to think about it every single day. Do it at the end of your week as a creative outlet when the "Friday feeling" kicks in, or use it to set yourself up on Monday morning. Either way, you're not scrambling.
📅 Look ahead. Right now. Open your calendar. What's happening at the end of September? In October? November? December? The holidays come faster than anyone wants to admit, and the businesses that stand out during Small Business Saturday, Black Friday, and the holiday season are the ones that started planning in September — not the ones throwing something together the week before. Pick one moment. Just one. And start planning for it today.
🔄 Repurpose, don't recreate. That video you posted three months ago? Most people didn't see it the first time. Post it again. That tip you shared in a caption last spring? Turn it into a reel or simply post it again. One piece of content can live multiple lives - and the algorithm rewards consistency more than it rewards constant new content.
📱 Show up even when it's imperfect. The photo with the slightly off lighting. The image that isn't perfectly sharp. The caption you wrote in two minutes between appointments. Post it anyway. Your customers aren't looking for perfection - they're looking for you. Even the imperfect apples make great applesauce.
The businesses that stay top of mind through fall and into the holidays aren't the ones with the biggest budgets. They're the ones that showed up - consistently, authentically, and timely.
The apple trees aren't going to wait. Neither should your marketing. 🍎
