Investing in the Future of Central Wisconsin: The Mid-State Technical College Foundation

Last month I introduced you to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters and their Free Tuition Thursday partnership with Mid-State Technical College - where a night at Witter Field could literally change a student's educational future.

This month I want to go a little deeper. Because behind that partnership, and behind so much of what makes Mid-State such a powerful force in Central Wisconsin, is the Mid-State Technical College Foundation.

Who They Are

The Mid-State Technical College Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting students at Mid-State Technical College across five campuses - Wisconsin Rapids, Stevens Point, Marshfield, Adams, and Virtual - as well as two specialized centers: the Healthcare Simulation Center and the AMETA (Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Technology and Apprenticeship) Center. Their mission is simple but powerful: remove the financial barriers that stand between students and their education.

Because here's the reality - not every student who wants to learn has an easy path to get there. Unexpected expenses, emergencies, and financial hardship can derail even the most motivated student. The Foundation exists to make sure that doesn't happen.

What They Do

The Mid-State Foundation supports students in a variety of meaningful ways:

🎓 Scholarships. Helping students afford tuition and reduce the financial burden of pursuing their education.

📚 Emergency Loans & Grants. When life throws something unexpected at a student - a car repair, a medical bill, a housing crisis - the Foundation steps in with emergency support so students can stay focused on their education instead of their crisis.

🤝 Community Partnerships. Building relationships with local businesses and organizations (like the Rafters!) to create innovative ways to fund student success.

💼 Workforce Development. Supporting programs that connect Mid-State graduates with career opportunities right here in Central Wisconsin.

The ripple effect of their work is felt across our entire region. Every student they support is a future nurse, electrician, business owner, or community leader right here in Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield, Stevens Point, Adams, and beyond.

How You Can Help

This September, the Mid-State Foundation is hosting their 11th Annual Trapshoot Fundraiser - and it's one of the most fun community events of the fall season.

Because every registration, every raffle ticket, and every sponsorship goes directly toward emergency loans and grants for Mid-State students who need it most.

An organization that invests in students today to strengthen the community tomorrow - now that's a Cheesehead Champion. 🧀
